A&E is possibly the most incompetenet A&E in OZ, understaffed, but filled with trainees doing all the work, and doing it poorly. The actual hospital staff on the other hand are brilliant, but if you're going into A&E, don't expect to be helped accurately.
You have to wonder how many people review this place since it is our only local hospital so you can't say anything too crazy. While I appreciate the support I got from the doctors and nurses last December when I presented as a heart attack patient I did find one of the reception staff to be a right Hitler! I had to go home to get my Nevro charger and then come back for transfer to Melbourne and the attitude of the woman I faced when I had to be readmitted, she needs a heart check as she clearly didn't have one. I was in Latrobe almost 12 hours I think before i was eventually transferred to Melbourne where they found a 99% blocked LAD. 12 hours!

New area is absolutely amazing, the staff were very caring and made us feel at home.
If I could give a 0 out of 5 I would. I am absolutely livid how useless and awful this hospital is, the way they treated my partner is disgusting. None of the doctors would take his condition seriously, he went in with a huge swollen leg with a rash that has turned into an open wound, and they booted him out in that condition with no way of getting home. There is something obviously wrong with his leg and quite evidently infected, and every GP we had seen told him that he should be in hospital because his condition is beyond normal treatment, yet the hospital didn't seem to care whatsoever! One of the doctors told him that if he stayed in hospital, the bugs there would worsen his condition and they'd have to chop his leg off?? What is he even supposed to do with his condition at home! It's worsening every passing moment and it's beyond normal medications/help. Shame on this hospital.
