Absolutely terrible experience with this shop. The customer service I received when walking into the shop was terrible, as I wasn't greeted by any of the 3 workers who watched me walk in, then I had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and give me my order. Upon ordering on the phone I wasn't told about one of the package deals which had exactly what I had ordered plus more, but for cheaper, so it is clear there isn't much communication between management and staff who take the orders. When I questioned the manager about this he was very rude, blamed it on the person on the phone being "new" and then passed me off to another staff member. Then once I arrived home and went to eat my meal, I found the chips to be very white in appearance and half frozen, and the "chicken salt" on them was far from chicken salt. The only thing I enjoyed from my entire order was the potato cake and flake. Will definitely be eating from another fish and chip shop from now on.
Flaked and fried this comment is for.Food has been great..This chips version is a welcomed edition to the industry.. tasted crispy and cooked fresh.. however, chips need to be wrapped sooner as to not let them dry out. I understand chips need to be drained, but wrapped sooner to retain heat and a little bit of oil. Also tasted ok cold after lunch meal.. as most chips taste "funky" after cooling down. chips were also very plentiful.. a small serving fed myself and another and a small child quite adequately...so unless you're super hungry, don't order the large. Hamburgers were a little bit on the larger side.. burger patties are frozen and not fresh.. burger was juicy, but wish egg wasn't cooked for so long, as it was cooked through, but I should have asked for egg to be runny, which always adds a flavour component all to its own. Steak sandwich was nice.. meat was moist and chewy and not too soft, so basically wasn't cooked to boot leather. Ordered the big kahuna pack.. chips were amazing generous for deal and burger was nice, but they forgot can of drink.. Fish was nice and moist.. coating was a little bit oily.. but chips were a bit dry in that order.Tried their chicken. Need to have a thigh next piece as I ordered the chicken patty used in their burgers and my goodness.. really tasty and not too spicy.. had chicken salt added to patty, just for the contrast and it was something else.. however need to try the full unadulterated version next time. Ordered the hot dog in batter. Was delicious according to the eater. Food was wrapped lovely and didn't look like a dog's breakfast and burgers were also wrapped very nicely and made eating the monstrosity quite easy.. juice didn't run onto hands. People and staff always very happy and cheerful.. Please be aware these are different orders and not on the one order I have had. Several of the opinions are from other people and not myself.Will be back again.Update.. Chicken (boned) thigh is awesome..2nd piece not so much.. had blood.. immediately stopped.. needs a little more time or hotter fryer.. maybe 5 to 10 degrees hotter.. other than that.. tasted good.
Delicious fish and chips but ovoid on Good Friday. Orders were cooked at random. I would have no problem waiting if they were in cooked in order. They were extremely busy on that day. After two hours when I asked how my order was going, I was told that they hadn't started it yet. I had paid for my order. They offered a refund. I declined the refund and walked out. Orders after mine had already been completed.
Not union jacks anymore..flaked n fried.About the only place in the valley that cuts fresh potatoes for chips...grown locally and quantity of all sizes is huge.Souvlaki,burgers,steak sangers.. all quality and flavorfulUnique take on potato cakes and his chicken range
Stopped in on the way back to Melbourne. The Barra was beaut. Top notch batter, and fair dinkum size. The blokes there were friendly. Medium chips was very generous, too big for the two of us.
